North Star Management Group is pleased to announce the addition of
Bob Engle and Jim Leyritz as two new staff members to the team.
Engle started his career in Major League Baseball as an area scout for the Baltimore Orioles in (1973-1976), moved over to the expansion Toronto Blue Jays in (1976) working in various capacities including scouting director involved in the scouting, drafting, or signing of Major League players Shawn Green, Alex Gonzalez and three Cy Young Award winners in Pat Hentgen, Chris Carpenter and Roy Halladay. In 2000 Engle was appointed Senior Advisor to General Manager for the Seattle Mariners and later appointed VP, Director of International Operations where the Mariner's international program produced over fifty Major Leaguers including a fourth Cy Young Award winner in Felix Hernandez and the first native-born Italian Major League player in Alex Liddi. Engle worked in the same capacity for the Los Angeles Dodgers from (2012-2015) and as an international cross-checker for the Cincinnati Reds (2016-2019). During his career, he received numerous awards including the Frank Genovese Lifetime Achievement Award for scouting, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame (Central Chapter). Engle resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife Barbara, and has three daughters and three grandchildren.
Jim Leryrtiz started his professional baseball career with the New York Yankees in 1986. Jim has been credited for significantly changing the momentum of several series’ by hitting numerous clutch postseason home runs. Nicknamed "The King”', Leyritz is perhaps best known for his three-run homer off of Mark Wohlers in the 8th inning of Game 4 in the 1996 World Series against the Atlanta Braves. In addition to his Yankee days, Jim also played an integral role for the 1998 San Diego Padres, leading them to the World Series by hitting 4 clutch home runs and driving in 10 RBIS as the Padres went on to play the Yankees in the 1998 World Series. Throughout his 11-year MLB career, Jim also played on the following teams: Anaheim Angels (1997), Texas Rangers (1997), Boston Red Sox (1998), San Diego Padres (1998-1999), and Los Angeles Dodgers (2000). After leaving the game of baseball, Jim enjoyed a successful career in Radio and TV Broadcasting (2004-2008). Jim is married to his wife Michelle and they have five children together in Orange County, California.
